Scope of work
What this service covers
Bed bugs are the pest that punishes rushed treatment. One untreated seam, one piece of furniture carried into another room, and you're back to zero. Effective bed bug control is a multi-visit program with inspection between stages — heat or targeted application, then a follow-up to catch stragglers before they re-establish.
- Thorough bedroom and adjacent-room inspection for live bugs and eggs
- Heat treatment where the property and infestation size suit it
- Targeted low-toxicity application to mattresses, seams, baseboards and headboards
- Encasement of mattresses and pillows where recommended
- Follow-up inspection to verify elimination
- Practical guidance on laundering, steaming and preventing reintroduction
Warning signs
Signs you need Bed Bugs
- Itchy, raised welts on a line or cluster of three
- Rusty or dark brown spotting on sheets or the mattress seam
- Small blood spots on bedding
- Shed skins or dark shell-like casings near the bed frame
- A musty, sweet-ish scent in a consistently warm, dark room
Recognising the pest early is the cheapest intervention there is. If you’re unsure what you’re looking at, request a pest inspection & quote instead of guessing.
The process
How Bed Bugs service works
- 1
Step 1.Confirm the identification
Bed bugs are routinely confused with batten bugs and carpet beetles. Misidentification is the single biggest reason treatments 'fail' — so it's confirmed first.
- 2
Step 2.Map the infestation
Every room, seam, frame and piece of furniture that could harbour activity is inspected and logged.
- 3
Step 3.Treat
Whole-room heat treatment or targeted application, depending on severity, layout and what's in the space.
- 4
Step 4.Follow-up
A return visit checks for hatching survivors or new introductions before the property is signed off.
Questions
Frequently asked questions
Can bed bugs be eliminated in one visit?
Heat treatment can clear a well-defined infestation in a single visit. Most other approaches need at least two visits, because eggs and newly hatched nymphs in concealed seams survive the first pass. Any provider promising one-visit certainty with chemicals alone should be treated with caution.
How do I bring bed bugs home?
Most commonly via used furniture, luggage from hotels, and secondhand items. Check furniture seams before bringing it inside, keep belongings off the floor in hotels, and inspect thrift store purchases before they enter the house.
Do I need to throw out my mattress?
Usually not. Mattress encasement, thorough steam treatment of the seams and targeted application resolve most mattress infestation. Replacement is only necessary in severe cases where the frame itself is compromised.
Can I sleep in the bedroom during treatment?
No. Preparation before treatment matters enormously — belongings moved, food and pets out, and the room aired after product application. Your provider will give you a preparation checklist.
